Let’s talk about music and mental health…
Many of us instinctively know the effects of music on our mood and energy. That’s why we’ll put on “Eye of the Tiger” to help us push through an intense workout or listen to weepy love songs after a breakup.
Perhaps you have Spotify playlists for certain occasions or just enjoy listening to your favorite songs as part of everyday life. Either way, your music listening habits can actually contribute to your overall health and wellness.
Listening to music can be entertaining, and some research suggests that it might even make you healthier.
The notion that music can influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors probably does not come as much of a surprise. If you've ever felt pumped up while listening to your favorite fast-paced rock anthem or been moved to tears by a tender live performance, then you easily understand the power of music to impact moods and even inspire action.
But what about the artists themselves?
As they sit there and write out your new favorite song, or belt out the lyrics to another love ballad live on stage, are they reminded of the impact the music had on their mental health as well?
In this show, “Come Back To Earth,” I’ll sit down with artists from all genres to ask them just that. From why they got into music in the first place to what makes their music so cathartic for them.
Listen as we explore the connection between music and mental health in a way that’s never been explored before…from the artist's own words.
